About

Built for the side without a counter.

Most diamond resources are written by people trying to sell you a stone. This one is for the side trying to sell theirs.

Why this exists

People sell diamonds for divorce, inheritance, hardship, or upgrade. The buyers — pawn shops, mall jewelers, online buyers — see hundreds of stones a week and know exactly what each one is worth. The seller has typically never sold a diamond before, doesn't have a current appraisal, and walks into the negotiation 80% behind on information.

That information gap is worth somewhere between 20% and 50% of the stone's value. We built this site to close it.

What's here

  • Diamond Value Calculator — enter the 4 Cs from your GIA report (or guess), get four prices: retail, private resale, jeweler buy-back, pawn. Our model is built from public price lists (Rapaport-style heuristics) refined with current market spread data.
  • Selling guides — engagement rings, divorce rings, inherited jewelry, lab-grown vs natural. Honest math on each scenario.
  • The 4 Cs explained — without the marketing fog. Which C actually moves the price and where you can compromise.
  • Jeweler directory — vetted local buyers in 24+ US metros (rolling out).
  • Matching service — submit your diamond, we forward to 1–3 vetted local jewelers. No commitment, no commission, no public listing.

Where our numbers come from

The calculator uses a model trained on public Rapaport per-carat price lists, adjusted for shape, cut grade, and condition (loose / set / antique). Resale and offer bands come from publicly available data on jeweler buyback spreads (typically 20–40% of retail) and pawn shop spreads (typically 10–25%).

The model is heuristic, not appraisal-grade. We're explicit about confidence levels — anyone selling a stone over $5,000 should always get at least two written offers from GIA-certified jewelers before deciding.

Editorial independence

We accept affiliate commissions from online retailers (Brilliant Earth, James Allen, Blue Nile, etc.). We do not change rankings, recommendations, or copy in exchange for payment. The same jewelers we recommend are the same ones we'd send our own family to.

The buying-guide pages disclose affiliate relationships at the bottom of each post.
